Star Trek Is BACK!!! (a spoiler-free entry with an over-amount of fangasming)
Oh My God. OHMYGOD. OH DEAR. *breathes*
I'm just home from watching the new Star Trek movie with Kai and Alex and I'm still completly fangasming over it. Oh HOLY KOI it was utterly, utterly brilliant.
I cried and fevered and angsted and laughed until my throat hurt; the cast is pure genius - especially Zack Quinto - I feared seeing him too much as Sylar, but he totally made me believe the young!Spock within the first few minutes. I agree with Kai's "I may be developing a crush here! - *squeeeeee*"
The villains are evil, the CGI is just lovely - they stuck to the old designs of the Classic Series! ♥ SCORE! and the plot is... well, not that brilliant, but thick and logical and who cares about the plot anyway when Kirk, Spock, Scotty and McCoy are running around doing wonderful, snarky in-character things.
I shall even agree on the non-canon/now-canon surprise pairing being WOOHOO!believable and cute and all kinds of awesome in itself.
Anyway. No plot-talk. (fearing for my well-being here...)
The German synch was just as cool, btw; Dr. House (Sarek) never misses a good movie apparently, nor does Matt Damon (Scotty) or David Duchovny (evil, evil Nero). I didn't realize during the movie, but thinking over it now I figured that Spock = Frodo (muhahahaaaa) and Kirk = Harry Potter (even more muhahahahaaaaa). There are even more I recognized, but telling would be spoiling.
And since I'll be beheaded and burnt to a crisp if I give away the plot (*smiles innocently while waving at Mea and Bin and all others that threatened her with various fatal 'accidents'*) I'm totally shutting up now.
Well, other than giving you a shout-out: GO WATCH THAT AWESOME MOVIE!
If you're a fan of the old series, it's a total must - it is made of so much good memories and so much entirely yet fitting new pieces that missing it is just not an option, especially if you want to make a trip down the good old memory-lane. That is, of course, if you remember the whole crack/trashy stuff/random illogical things/constant light humor more than the all-serious-sci-fi.
If you're completely new to the series, it totally doesn't matter - the characters are wonderfully explaining themselves and there is just so much eye-candy and plot that you'll find into the universe without any problems. Though I should probably say that it's highly addicting.
I wouldn't mind seeing another five, six movies with that crew or a whole TV-series. I'm craving for mooooore.
S'all. I'm going back to fangasming some more sleep now.
*makes happy gleeful noises*
